DIY Hair Growth Oil Treatment + DIY Hair & Body Oil

Healthy hair grows and that is a fact but sometimes when we want to reach a particular longer hair length we must keep many factors in mind to achieve that length goal. Since I was a 3-4 years old to my early teens Ive always had long hair, and the longest its been is right above my booty around the ages of 12-14 years old, before I got into the habit of trimming layered styles into my hair every few months or so to add volume and definition to my natural curls. Now as an adult Ive learned a lot from my experience of losing my natural hair texture due to unhealthy, fried brittle hair from the use of over heat which gave me heat damage. Ive recovered my hair and gained very healthy hair. Ive kept it healthy for the past 4-5 years due to never straightening or using heat in my hair and making better choices in the ingredients in my beauty products and food I eat, but I haven’t been able to get that long waist length curly hair that I use to have so this is where my LONG HAIR JOURNEY BEGINS.

KEEP IN MIND:

• Hair grows approximately 1 inch to 1-1/2 inch every 2 months

• Curly hair has shrinkage. Depending on your curl texture your shrinkage can be more or less but as hair grows your will also weigh down, extending the shrinkage the longer your hair gets.

FOR 6 MONTHS:

• I will not be trimming or cutting any hair #TeamNoScissors

• I will be doing an oiled scalp massage once a week before cleansing my hair to allow my scalp to absorb the oil nutrients it may be lacking in order to stimulate growth and follicle strength.

  3. Hi Alma, I am african American and half Caucasian with coarse looking hair because of the sandy color. I have been natural for 4 years now but wear a sewn. I want to wear my own hair but am afraid of what it will look like. It is currently shoulder length but not curly like yours. I don’t know what to do to style it, but I have decided to face my fear by taking your long hair challenge and see where I end up. Any suggestions you have for me are greatly appreciated. I am purchasing my oils and hope to hear from you soon. I also follow you on Instagram I am _mylady 10. I thank you for your insight and pray that my hair finds its way. Thank you and God Bless you!!

  4. You do an oil treatment once a week before cleansing your hair which I have been doing. But what do you do for the other 6 days of the week? I usually wet, comb, and apply conditioner to my hair everyday when I shower. Should I not do this everyday to my hair?

  5. Hello!
I discovered your videos and I love them! It made me realize how heat has damaged my hair, they are not growing anymore. I decided to stop the heat & color and I ordered the oils to try help them get better. Unfortunately I live in France so I couldn’t get the exact same ingredients, but I’m sure it will be close enough!

Thank you for your videos and please keep doing them!!

  6. Hey Alba,
I’m on a hair journey of my own and these products are something I am excited to try. I am Puerto Rican and Samoan and African American, so you can imagine my hair texture .. curly thick and more curly. I am also living in Las Vegas so the heat dries my hair out and then my hair gets damaged. I am recovering from a time where I straightened my hair for an event , came home washed it and then it dried completely STRAIGHT it never went curly again . It started to wave up a little but no curls … I then tried to just leave it alone , no straightener no nothing just deep condition at all times I noticed after a while my roots were getting curly and I realized It’s all new growth .. a year later with that regimen I have shoulder length full head of curls . I want my curls to be down to the middle of my back . I think that should be easy to achieve with this growth oil you’ve created.. I’m going to buy the Hairfinity pills as well and maybe even the Hairtrigger Shampoo line , they specifically are designed for hair growth .. so I am excited to try this so my hair won’t stay dry ever and it will grow much longer , much faster .
    THANK YOU ALBA !

  10. Hi Alba :),

This is Sharon and I’ve just joined in with you on this hair growth challenge! I became natural in my haircare when I started watching your videos couple of years ago. My hair has gotten more healthier and bouncier and I want to thank you! Also, I want to let you know that I am deaf and hard of hearing and I watch your videos all the time. Is it possible for you to provide captions for your videos?

I have a question about new your hair growth video. When you scalp massage, do you shampoo your hair? Please help me.

    Thanks so much,
    Sharon xo

  13. Can’t wait to try this with my niece! I stopped using heat on my hair almost a year ago and it has definitely grown since then but can’t wait to see how much longer I can get it! 😊

  14. I’m in 🙂
I decided to stop using heat for a year. I haven’t used any since mid-February. I have been finger detangling since then and really don’t see the point of combs and brushes anymore. I was neglecting it for so long, and it’s taken 4 months to get it to a point where the breakage is practically non-existent. Shea Moisture and Joico products have been a great help. Off to gather my materials to make my oils! ❤
